How I Spent My Student Loan is a Flash Fiction Serial my buddy Ben Freeman is writing. I am putting it on my blog and would love any feedback you may have.
If You Missed The Frist Episode
Episode two Written by Ben Freeman
It's Saturday morning, at 12:35 pm. The weekend mornings are when you wake up no matter what the time. The later the night. The later the morning.
Last night Lenny and I visited every dorm, apartment and house party we could find: kegs, covers, and sluts trying to find free weed. Can't blame them, if I had nothing better to do I would have the same interest, at least the sluts because my Mr. Potato Head outfit is still in Idaho. It was clear to Lenny and me that Friday night was nothing more than a vast array of high schooler kegger parties.
It's 2 pm and Lenny, and I are eating brunch, once again it is CT(college time). Tonight will be the night fraternities, and sororities have their first welcoming shindigs of the semester which speedily become unwelcoming to most people as the days pass. Tonight is when they scope for future members.
Friday night parties and Saturday night parties are different in their organizational factors and what people are looking for when they attend. Partygoers and future makers, two demographics Lenny and I have a significant interest in.
It's 1:15 pm CT Sunday morning, I wake up and look at the ceiling. A splitting hangover is what I feel in my head, and a poster of Justin Bieber hanging from the ceiling is what I see
“Where am I?” I whisper, squinting my eyes.
I roll over, thinking Lenny is playing a joke on me, but before my hand lands on the opposite side of the bed, it rests on a warm object that is real. My eyes open as I see her face: pretty, eyes closed and smelling like Jack Daniels Whisky as she pulls my hand lower getting even warmer.
My eyes scan the wall next to her bed. Her hand on my hand feels like I am training for something I have known for years. I start recognizing people in the photos where she also dwells. My eyes are hopping from one picture to the next as she begins to moan louder. I, not knowing what to expect from her, notice a photo where she is kissing the President of the beta house fraternity.
Apparently, the moment never ends for her, so I twist back to the side I woke and look at her bedside table. There is another picture of her and the President of Beta House with a heart on it.
“Oh Todd don't stop,” she moans
You're probably asking yourself, am I going to stop my training session?
What would any logical self-respecting college student do? Probably quit, but I see a gold mine here.
I open the drawer on her bedside table with the only available arm and hand I have, and to my amazement, all I see is a drawer full of unused condoms. Looking at the picture on her bedside table once again then back down and the drawer full of condoms, I could not figure out if she was looking for cash or class?
Tilting my head over my side of the bed to see what is lying on the floor, I see my pants, t-shirt, shoes, and an assortment of other things that belong to her. I was impressed when looking at her choice of undergarments, a little on the slutty side, so I am going to have to say she is heading more towards the cash.
I face her as her eyes are still closed and she makes more noises that are familiar to me. They sound like animal noises I recognize from the farms in Idaho. Slowly and very cautiously I slide my hand from her insistent training session and let her finish the session solo.
I crawl out of bed as she is still wrapped up in her own fulfillment and she never notices me leaving. I dress, clean up and quietly press the camera app on my phone. Lifting the picture of her, still not knowing what her name is, and Todd from her bedside table and I lay back down in the bed beside her. I, not being a photographer, know that when unsure of the light always use the camera flash. That's what my friend Kevin told me, anyway, when he was making our fake ID's in Highschool.
"Say cheese," I happily said as I held the picture under her breast and smile as she attempts to smile as well with her eyes half open.
I arrive at my apartment, the one Lenny and I share, with a big smile on my face. As soon as I open the door, I see Lenny and room full of other people making t-shirts, posters, and any other merchandising paraphernalia that anyone can think of off the top of their head.
"What's going on Lenny?" I ask with curiosity.
Lenny stands up and walks over to me with excitement and says, "Great your hear..."
"Yea, I'm right here Lenny what is all this stuff?"
"Our first product line," says Lenny as he holds up a poster with the words "Fake-N-Bake, Hemp, What the Doctor Ordered" artistically laid out and professional looking. I paused, looked up and scanned the ceiling with my eyes then look at Lenny.
"That's ingenious Lenny, but who are these people," I say as I put my hand out forward noticing all the workers we have in our apartment.
"College people will do anything for money," laughs Lenny.
"No Joke.." I say and show him the picture on my phone.
